Chairman's Message
Dear Sponsors, Members and Friends of CommNexus San Diego:
CommNexus’ primary objective has always been to help flourish San Diego’s high tech community. To continue our efforts with this objective in 2008, we are focusing on three major business initiatives: Talent, Capital, and Business Development. All of our programs, efforts and assets (like our very popular website), are tied to provide value to our constituents, members, and sponsors in these key areas:

Talent - CommNexus introduced two new programs last year to foster attraction and retention of talent in San Diego: JobNexus and InternNexus. Since JobNexus began, it has had over 40,000 page views of individual jobs, over 350 resumes uploaded and 450+ applications submitted for these jobs. Both of these programs aim to match the best talent from around the world with our local companies, as any job seeker outside of San Diego can use our job and intern databases to find a position in San Diego.

Capital - To improve San Diego’s small start-up companies’ access to capital, CommNexus offers NextStage, a program in which a panel of experts review business plans and give advice to entrepreneurs. Also, our Capital Markets SIG brings together entrepreneurs with VCs to facilitate business relationships and increase their access to capital.

Business Development - CommNexus continues to sponsor and organize marquee events like SIG (Special Interest Group) meetings and Headliners (where we invite world class experts and executives to present to the high tech community). In addition, MarketLink continues to pair regional companies with multinational corporations hoping to discover new business interests and partnerships. MarketLink scored a number of major successes last year by bringing executives from Samsung, Flextronics, BT, and Motorola to San Diego to meet our local companies. Many more multinational companies are lined up this year to visit San Diego and meet with our constituents.
In addition, we offer a series of web-enabled services that transform some of these events and programs into 24/7 live discussion forums, including the Silicon Beach Map (which features your company’s name and location along with a personalized Company Profile), the San Diego Tech Events Calendar, Newswire, and the CommNexus Programs Wiki.
Year 2008 is off to a favorable start, and I want to thank our board of directors and committee members for their continued support, advice, and guidance. I also want to thank our members and sponsors for giving us the privilege to serve San Diego’s tech community. Finally, I’d like to thank all of the volunteers who make our events and programs successful.
