Tim Caulfield - CEO - AIS Board Director Deep expertise in the hosting industry, has built best-in-class hosting, collocation, managed, and professional services to clients from start-up to Fortune 500. In leadership roles with industry giants Savvis, Cable & Wireless, and Exodus, he managed hosting businesses as large as $470M in revenue and was a key player in the evolution of the web-hosting business into a global provider of sophisticated enterprise-level IT solutions. Recognized as a growth driver and turnaround architect, Tim has led organizations through periods of challenge and change while growing revenue, retaining talented employees, expanding technical capabilities, and delighting customers in increasingly competitive markets. In September 2010, Tim took over as the Chief Executive Officer at American Internet Services - AIS.
Since joining, Tim rebuilt the management team and expanded the product offering into Managed Services and Cloud Computing. Tim’s vision is to grow the company beyond its San Diego roots into a regional powerhouse exceeding $100M in revenue over the next 5 years. In 2009 Tim founded Capto Consulting, Inc., a management consulting firm focused on IT outsourcing and technology transformation. As a thought leader in the hosting industry, he served as Capto’s chief expert for this market, advising clients on the market landscape. Tim led consulting engagements for global clients seeking to launch, expand, and improve their hosting businesses. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Global Operations for Savvis, an $890M provider of IT infrastructure services. With responsibility for nearly half of the company’s revenue, he oversaw the delivery of infrastructure and services to customers around the world at performance levels above 99.99% for all areas of service. In addition, he delivered strong revenue and profit results and spearheaded major technology initiatives across the US, Europe, and Asia. As Managing Director for Global Solutions at Savvis, he held full P&L responsibility for nearly $60M in Professional Services and Managed Security revenue. Leading the newly merged organization through integration and global growth, he delivered $23M in cost synergies to continue his career-long trend of achieving revenue targets, streamlining operations, and building customer-focused organizations. Prior to Savvis, Mr. Caulfield served as Senior Vice President of Consulting and Hosting Services for the US division of Cable & Wireless and in various senior leadership positions at Exodus. In both cases, he shaped a lean, strong organization that retained its solid customer base of Fortune 500 and eBusiness 50 accounts while navigating through two Chapter 11 restructurings. Tim also held business development, sales, and marketing positions with Gateway Computer, where he generated more than $2M in first-year revenue in the commercial services market, and Sequent Computer Services (acquired by IBM), where he grew revenues in both US and Latin American markets. In early positions with Digital Equipment Corporation (now HP), he rose from systems support engineer to management roles in customer service and operations.
