Bailey Cunning
Program Manager Bailey Cunning is the Program Manager at CommNexus. Bailey is originally from Hawaii where she received a BA in Communications with a minor in Speech from the University of Hawaii. Her marketing background began in consumer goods where her strengths formed in PR, event organization, and copy writing. She joined CommNexus in August 2009. Nancy Ferguson
Bookkeeper Prior to joining CommNexus San Diego, Nancy served as Controller of an internet-based advertising agency and its associated divisions. She has also managed the accounting department for several start-up companies and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her present role. Brandon Freeman
Director of Operations Brandon Freeman is the Director of Operations at CommNexus San Diego where he oversees the development of the organization's business services and leads the management of its web presence, interactive & print media, IT, corporate finance, and business operations. Brandon joined CommNexus in 2007 from the California Institute of Telecommunications & Information Technology (Calit2) at UC San Diego where, as a Project Coordinator, he worked with PI’s at the Institute to assist in operating research programs & innovation centers. Previously, Brandon served with the UC San Diego Foundation as President of its Student Foundation. Here he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of a student-focused capital campaign that was integrated into the University’s overall $1B campaign in 2004. Brandon has also had extensive work in event coordination and has presented concerts and performing arts productions for 15,000 person audiences, as well as international events featuring foreign heads-of-state & chief executives of Fortune 100 corporations. A UC San Diego alumnus with a B.S. in Management Science & focus in Electrical Engineering, Brandon is a 2008 Webby Award Honoree and has a patent pending in the area of wireless communications systems. He is also the author of an upcoming physics (HEP theory) book, entitled Grand Symphony. Brandon currently serves on the executive committee of the La Jolla Music Society's Allegro Society, on the advisory board of the New Leaders Council, and on the board of the UC San Diego Alumni Association as the Chair of the Young Alumni Council and President-Elect of the Chancellor's Associates Young Alumni (CAYA). Magda Remillard
Director of Business Development Magda Remillard is the Director of Business Development at CommNexus San Diego where she is responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with industry sponsors as well as board members and individual donors. Magda has most recently been involved with building out of the Business Development unit at Novatel Wireless, focusing on value add applications for Novatel's core business in 3G modems. Before joining Novatel, Ms Remillard founded Zaxis Technologies, a mobile software company that developed porting technologies enabling mobile applications to function on all cell phones. During her tenure, she raised private equity funds to grow the company’s product development and marketing efforts. In 2004, as CEO of Zaxis, she was named one of the finalists for the prestigious Athena Pinnacle awards. Magda received her B.A. from the University of California, San Diego. She was born and raised in Poland and came to the United States at the age 13. In 1978 she moved to San Diego to attend UCSD and remained here to pursue her career and family life. In addition to her business and family activities, Magda is involved in her community and served 3 years as Business Area 1 Representative of the Executive Board of University Community Planning Group. Heidi Rockwood
Office Coordinator Heidi Rockwood joined EvoNexus in February 2010 as the Office Coordinator. A native of Germany, Heidi studied Business Administration at the University of Osnabrück before receiving her MA in Banking and Finance from the University of Georgia at Athens. Intern Nicole Walters joined CommNexus in August 2009 as a Marketing and Communications intern. She is currently earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in Art at San Diego State University. She is looking forward to start a career in the communication field.
