Rory Moore
CEO Rory Moore was the seed round investor, co-founder of Peregrine Semiconductor Corp., one of the world’s leading providers of radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for the wireless communications and aerospace markets. Peregrine ships millions of chips every week to cell phone manufacturers around the globe. Rory was also the seed round investor and founding CEO of Silicon Wave, Inc., now owned by Qualcomm. Silicon Wave produced the world’s first Bluetooth chips. Bluetooth chips are now in over a billion devices from cell phones to automobiles. Rory was a cofounder of e-Fire.com, and Optical River. In addition, he is co-chair of the Military Special Interest Group and a member of the NextStage committee. Michele Yoshioka
Director of Programs Michele Yoshioka is Director of Programs for CommNexus and EvoNexus. Michele's focus is program development for all CommNexus programs as well as managing the day to day operations at EvoNexus, including the application process and oversight of the incubator companies both downtown and at UTC. Michele joined CommNexus in September 2011 and has previously managed the SIG Program, Headliner Program, EvoNexus Programs and Events, and NextStage. Michele attended the University of California, San Diego where she received a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Economics. Michele's background includes event organization, marketing, sales and program development. Her interests include running, hot yoga, good food and travel. Brittany Bjerke
Program Manager Brittany Bjerke is a Program Manager at CommNexus San Diego where she focuses on the Special Interest Groups and HeadLiner programs. Brittany attended Northern Arizona University of Flagstaff, Arizona where she received a B.S. in Health Sciences: Community Health Promotion. Program Manager Kristen Long is a Program Manager at CommNexus where she focuses on Marketlink, NextStage, and EvoNexus programs. Irene Tena
Creative Manager Irene Tena is the Creative Manager at CommNexus, where she manages all aspects of the organization's creative design and production process. She is responsible for the organization's branding and oversees the maintenance of the website. Irene is originally from Madrid, Spain, where she studied Graphic Design at the TAI School of Arts. She also has a Postgraduate Degree in Photography & Design from the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona. Prior to joining CommNexus, Irene worked for two years as a Graphic Designer in the Marketing Department of CB Richard Ellis, providing graphic support to all the company's offices throughout Spain. Tony Montenaro
Office and Facilities Manager Tony Montenaro is the Facilities and IT Manager for CommNexus / EvoNexus, devoting extensive time at both facilities. He is responsible for the daily necessities and technical issues of the CommNexus staff as well as those of the incubator companies. Tony has a BA in History from University of California, Santa Barbara and a BA in Classics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His background includes motel and restaurant management, simultaneously overseeing a variety of properties in both disciplines. His strengths from these experiences include attention to detail, proactive thinking and handling stressful situations undauntedly. Gina Noel
Controller Gina Noel is the Controller at CommNexus. She will be in charge of all accounting functions and help with customer relationship management. Gina comes to us with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Art History; she also has an Accounting degree. She worked in NYC at a major hedge fund and in San Diego at retirement planning firms. Sara Spaventa
Executive Assistant Sara Spaventa acts as the Executive Assistant to Rory Moore, CEO and Founder of CommNexus San Diego. Aside from providing administrative support for the executive officer, Sara is responsible for planning, organizing and managing many special events and other company outreach efforts. She regularly interacts with umbrella start-ups and community associates and coordinates Board meetings and related activities. Sara graduated from the University of California, San Diego Magna Cum Laude and was a four-year starter and scholar athlete on the nationally ranked UCSD Women’s Soccer Team. She earned a B.A. in Psychology and was inducted into the Caledonian Society at Muir College, the highest academic honor bestowed upon an undergraduate at Muir. Sara’s background includes experience in event planning and organization, leadership training and community service. Martin Chang
Program Advisor to the CEO Martin is a wireless technology veteran with over 20 years of experience in engineering design, business development, product management and marketing. He has extensive industry experience with wireless technologies such as CDMA and OFDM. Martin has held various managment and engineering positions at QUALCOMM, Magins Networks, and TRW (Northrop Grumann). He is currently a technology consultant and an investment manager. Rafael Rodriguez
Graphic Design Intern Rafael Rodriguez is a graphic design intern at CommNexus, reporting directly to the Create Manager. Rafael earned his B.A in Applied Sciences with emphasis in Graphic Design from San Diego State University. He is currently working on achieving his M.A in the Fine Arts at SDSU. Prior to joining CommNexus, Rafael was serving an internship at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park, where he became proficient in print and layout design, along with museum marketing and management. Alexa Enlow
Events and Marketing Intern Alexa Enlow is an Events and Marketing intern, assisting in the coordination of the Special Interest Groups and HeadLiner programs. Alexa attended the University of California, San Diego where she received a B.A. in Communications and was a four-year member of the NCAA women’s soccer team. Her previous experience includes organizing various events in the collegiate athletics arena at UCSD as well as volunteering for sports associations in the San Diego region.
