Bailey Cunning
Program Manager Bailey Cunning is the Program Manager at CommNexus. Bailey is originally from Hawaii where she received a BA in Communications with a minor in Speech from the University of Hawaii. Her marketing background began in consumer goods where her strengths formed in PR, event organization, and copy writing. She joined CommNexus in August 2009. Nancy Ferguson
Bookkeeper Prior to joining CommNexus San Diego, Nancy served as Controller of an internet-based advertising agency and its associated divisions. She has also managed the accounting department for several start-up companies and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her present role. Brandon Freeman
COO Brandon Freeman is the COO at CommNexus San Diego where he oversees the development of the organization's business services and leads the management of its web presence, interactive & print media, IT, corporate finance, and business operations. Brandon joined CommNexus in 2007 from the California Institute of Telecommunications & Information Technology (Calit2) at UC San Diego where, as a Project Coordinator, he worked with PI’s at the Institute to assist in operating research programs & innovation centers. Previously, Brandon served with the UC San Diego Foundation as President of its Student Foundation. Here he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of a student-focused capital campaign that was integrated into the University’s overall $1B campaign in 2004. Brandon has also had extensive work in event coordination and has presented concerts and performing arts productions for 15,000 person audiences, as well as international events featuring foreign heads-of-state & chief executives of Fortune 100 corporations. A UC San Diego alumnus with a B.S. in Management Science & focus in Electrical Engineering, Brandon is a 2008 Webby Award Honoree and has a patent pending in the area of wireless communications systems. He is also the author of an upcoming physics (HEP theory) book, entitled Grand Symphony. Brandon currently serves on the executive committee of the La Jolla Music Society's Allegro Society, on the advisory board of the New Leaders Council, and on the board of the UC San Diego Alumni Association as the Chair of the Young Alumni Council and President-Elect of the Chancellor's Associates Young Alumni (CAYA). Megan Leonard
Program Manager Megan Leonard is a Program Manager at CommNexus San Diego and focuses on the NextStage program. Megan is a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she received her B.S. in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Cathy Pucher
Executive Director, EvoNexus Cathy Pucher serves as Executive Director of EvoNexus, a non-profit incubator for San Diego based start-ups. Cathy is responsible for the set up, fund raising and day-to-day operations of EvoNexus. In addition to her efforts as Executive Director of EvoNexus, Ms.Pucher currently serves as EVP Sales and Business Development and Co-Founder for HuTribe, a San Diego based start up focusing on mobile social management applications. Before joining HuTribe, Ms. Pucher served as EVP Sales and Business Development for PacketVideo responsible for driving revenue growth worldwide, identifying market opportunities with mobile operators and OEMS, and forming strategic relationships globally. Ms. Pucher held senior sales positions for Texas Instruments in the computing and wireless communication segments for 18 years prior to joining PacketVideo. She has worked in the wireless handset communications industry for 14 years. Ms. Pucher earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at University California, San Diego. Heidi Rockwood
Operations Manager Heidi Rockwood is the Operations Manager at CommNexus San Diego where she’s responsible for business operations, facilities and finance activities. A native of Germany, Heidi studied Business Administration at the University of Osnabrück before receiving her MA in Banking and Finance from the University of Georgia at Athens. Irene Tena
Creative Manager Irene Tena is the Creative Manager at CommNexus San Diego, where she manages all aspects of the company creative design and production process including, oversight of brand usage, creative curation, creative design and production oversight. Irene is originally from Madrid, Spain, where she studied Graphic Design at the TAI School of Arts, and recently earned her Postgraduate Degree in Photography & Design from the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona. Prior to joining CommNexus, Irene worked for two years as a Graphic Designer in the Marketing Department of CB Richard Ellis, where she was responsible for the correct implementation of the brand, marketing collateral design and web maintenance for all the company offices throughout Spain. Olga Teplitsky
Program Manager Olga Teplitsky is the Program Manager at CommNexus San Diego where she is responsible for managing the MarketLink and Headliners programs, as well as the organization’s communications. Most recently at Qualcomm, she focused on Event Management and Public Relations as a Marketing Communications Coordinator. A UCSD alumnus with a B.A. in International Studies and a double minor in Cognitive Science and Spanish, she is interested in exploring human and social behavior. Her junior year, she opted to spend a year abroad studying third world development at the University of Granada in southern Spain.
