From Balance Sheet to Financial Decision Making
September 19, 2007
7:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m

Finance is about making investments and managerial decisions based on economic information in the face of uncertainty. This half-day class will guide you through the financial decision making process from start to finish. You will learn to:
  • Read and interpret balance sheet and income statements
  • Synthesize and use that information into financial models
  • Make decisions based on these models
  • Understand the limits of financial modeling
In our financial analysis we will go over fundamental concepts, such as diversification, hedging and managing various sources of risk. Whether you are an investor, manager, VC or entrepreneur, you will learn to use modern financial tools that have not only become an integral part of our business environment, but have also opened new and unexplored opportunities.

At WD-40, key alignments between CEO, Human Resources and board members have produced startling successes.   Modeling these kinds of relationships can provide benefits to you and your company. The Align Executive Series, brought to you by the Rady School of Management and Challenger, Gray, and Christmas, invites you to join us to hear WD-40 CEO Garry Ridge and representatives from the company’s HR department and Board of Directors, discuss their story and some of their secrets to success.

The Align Executive Series explores the myriad of crucial relationships between chief executives, board members and HR professionals. Having a working knowledge of these, HR professionals are empowered to contribute significantly on important initiatives within their organization and their chief executives and board members will develop an understanding and appreciation of the "value proposition" of their new HR department. We hope that you will join us for breakfast on July 10 at the Faculty Club at UCSD for a fascinating and informative meeting.
