PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
In December, 2005, the HANA Alliance announced their plans to create a defacto HD AV network 'standard' that will help advance and enhance the consumer HD entertainment experience.  HANA combines IEEE-1394 (Firewire), an ability to connect to Ethernet networks, with new application management and User Interface functionality to create an in-home media network that features simple connectivity (using a single cable with hot "plug and play" capability), ease-of-use (with a single "virtual" remote control function) and enhanced content security, while maintaining flexible content-sharing, equipment interoperability and competitive cost.  HANA serves the consumer's in-home media management and distribution needs as the home media environment moves to a more networked architecture.  The HANA Alliance is supported by consumer electronics companies including JVC, Mitsubishi, Samsung, technology providers such as Sun Microsystems, Pulse~LINK, Texas Instruments, and Freescale Semiconductor, and NBC-Universal on the content side.  This presentation will discuss the needs for in-home HD media networking in the near future and the HANA Alliance vision and approach to meeting these needs.
