The Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) is a high-speed landing craft capable of operating from well deck ships and carrying weapons systems, equipment, cargo and personnel from ship to shore and across the beach.
A number of you have inquired about how you could see LCAC and learn how they operate. Captain David Fontaine, Commanding Officer of Assault Craft Unit Five, has invited us for a special brief and tour of these unique aircushion landing crafts and its facilities. These crafts are undergoing a Service Life Extension (SLEP) program, which installs the latest technology to make them faster, more maneuverable and have greater communications capabilities. We have only 40 seats for this event and cannot accommodate walk-ins. Please sign up only if you can attend.
