The HR/Technical Talent SIG Presents...

Accessing the Global Talent Pool
“Beware the Rising Tide!” That seems to be the consensus of the state of affairs with the number of globally competitive technical professionals falling domestically and their numbers rising internationally. Some say this decline is in part a result of the PR surrounding outsourcing itself and some say this is a glimpse into the future of a globalized community. What is clear though today is that there is a lack of technically talent professionals locally here in San Diego.
So how do you access the global talent pool? China and India alone graduate over 850,000 engineers per year. Domestic numbers hover around 70,000. This discussion will focus on how to tap the global resource of technical professionals as well as focus on searching out domestic talent here at home. Our panel will consist of Fausta Albi from Larrabee & Zimmerman, who will discuss issues surrounding immigration, H-1B, and visa processes. Lynda from Entropic will relate her company’s experience as a start-up facing fast growth and the search for talent from abroad. For those who find through this event that recruiting global professionals is not an option for them, Jean Center, former Executive Director of San Diego Tech Force, will be discussing ways to recruit and entice talent from other parts of California.
If you currently have technical positions that have been open for longer than your company would like, this is the event that you can’t afford to miss!
