The Emerging Wireless SIG Presents...
WiMAX Revisited:
Current Perspectives

After years of anticipation, WiMAX systems have finally started rolling out and devices are promised for 2008. According to recent research, WiMAX is to lead a Capex investment of $13bn by 2012 on pre-4G wireless systems, ahead of rival technologies, such as LTE. Where initially only small, focused manufacturers, such as Alvarion and AirSpan, supported the technology, WiMAX is now backed by giants such as Intel, Cisco, Nokia Siemens Networks and Motorola. And here in the US, Sprint has commenced its ambitious plans for a national WiMAX network. In short, WiMAX is a technology to be reckoned with.
In our upcoming WiMAX event, we will present a broad update on the WiMAX market, by providing different perspectives on WiMAX applications and technology. Our panelists will address the WiMAX subject with a focus on (1) a “National Carrier Perspective”, (2) a “Regional ISP Perspective” and, (3) an “Ecosystem Perspective."
