Rise of the Machines 3:
A Fieldtrip to Northrop Grumman Unmanned Systems Development Center
Attendees to CommNexus’ military SIG will be introduced to Northrop Grumman’s Family of UAS’s that support forces at sea and ashore with an emphasis on persistence, survivability, connectivity and reliability. Some topics to be addressed include NGC’s UAV legacy, current Unmanned Aerial System programs, system descriptions, ongoing flight-testing, and future growth.
The following systems will also be covered:
· Global Hawk
· Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS)
· Global Hawk Maritime Demonstration (GHMD)
· Unmanned Combat Aerial System (UCAS) Demonstration (X-47B)
· Fire Scout (USN, USA & potential)
· Hunter Operations
· Advanced Concept endeavors
Northrop Grumman speakers will emphasize autonomous flight from ships at sea/shore sites, payload advances, autonomous mission execution, autonomous in-flight refueling, persistence, rapid retasking, and system survivability and reliability. CONOPS will be discussed to show its utility to Joint Forces and the ability to perform Network Centric Operations.
Attendees can look forward to the opportunity to visit the System's Integration Laboratories (SILs), which is considered the heart and soul of Northrop Grumman’s Unmanned Systems Development.
