The Road to Long Term Evolution (LTE):
The Next Generation of Wireless Technology

Verizon Wireless West Area President Tami Erwin will speak at CommNexus’ Industry Leader Series about the company’s plans to offer fourth generation wireless services.
Verizon Wireless has been testing 4G / LTE wireless technology in Boston and Seattle since August, 2009. Successful data calls have involved streaming video, file uploads and downloads, Web browsing, and calls using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).  The company is preparing to launch commercial 4G service later this year in some 30 markets serving 100 million people, and plans to offer 4G service nationwide in 2013.
Tami will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities that come with such an ambitious venture, addressing questions including:
·        What does it take to build an LTE network?
·        What will 4G / LTE technology do for customers?
·        How does it compare with WiMax?
·        When’s all this going to happen?
·        What equipment will be available, and when?
