The HR SIG Presents...

Consumer Driven Healthcare and Wellness:

How to Prepare for and Implement Successful Program in Organizations Small to Large

According to a national survey, over 60% of companies will implement a Consumer Driven Health Insurance Plan in the next 2 to 3 years using high deductible medical plans and health reimbursement accounts as a part of their solution to manage and maintain an essential employee benefit. Furthermore, more companies are utilizing corporate wellness programs and resources to assist in managing these costs.

Please join the CommNexus HR SIG and a distinguished panel of subject experts as they share their successful ideas, strategies and best practices on corporate wellness and consumer driven healthcare. What are the roadblocks? Benchmarks? Communication Strategies? Learn how to implement an effective program that allows choice, shows meaningful value and will engage employees.

This seminar is designed to give you practical steps to integrate a long term approach to healthcare cost containment for today and the future. We hope you can join us.

PANELISTS:
Rachel Jobin
Benefits Manager and HR Partner,
ViaSat Inc.
Rachel Jobin oversees the benefits program for ViaSat, Inc. A graduate of UCLA, Rachel has been with ViaSat for five years. As ViaSat strives to maintain a competitive benefit package in the unique high tech industry, wellness has become a key focus and ViaSat is examining new opportunities around consumerism. In the past few years Rachel has been a part of a major wellness program overhaul that has added structure and enthusiasm to ViaSat’s existing program.  Gym partnerships, company-wide contests, new resources and generous incentives have given ViaSat employees the tools they need to improve their health as well as that of their families. In leading the communication effort, Rachel’s strategies are aimed at educating employees and their dependents on the value of their benefits and how to be wise consumers of healthcare. Rachel also serves as a Business Partner and works with business groups in an employee relations role, coaching managers and employees, and she holds a certification in HR Management.

Miki Kobane
Health Promotions Director,
Barney & Barney
Miki Kobane has spent 29 years in the health insurance industry, Human Resources and Corporate Health Management. Her experience provides her with a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between chronic illness, escalating costs and the need for lifestyle education and behavior change. Providing services throughout her career as a broker, Regional Sales Manager and HR professional, having to explain and sell double-digit increases was difficult but not uncommon. One fact remained consistent in her career, increases would continue until action was taken to encourage lifestyle changes and require individual accountability. Ms. Kobane transitioned from the health insurance industry to Benefits Director for Children’s Hospital of San Diego in 1998 and in 2003 accepted the position of Benefits and Health & Wellness Manager at Viejas Enterprises. In 2007, the Viejas Wellness Program was recognized by and received The California State Senate Award for their efforts and achievement in workplace wellness. Miki joined Barney & Barney as Health Promotions Director in 2008.  Meeting that challenge, Miki has focused her career on and is dedicated to the implementation of employer sponsored health management programs. She assists employers, helping them assess their needs, determine the depth and design of a suitable program, establish realistic long-term goals and implement credible evaluation metrics. She partners with all employers, regardless of their size, who may be considering augmenting their health insurance, workers compensation plans, leave policies and any other areas in which costs and productivity are a concern.
