In the USA and globally one of the major issues that patients and doctors have is retrieving accurate and updated medical records. The medical market place is looking at ways to provide solutions that are quickly and accurately retrievable plus simple for the user to operate while remaining secure. Also, where possible these solutions will offer internationally accepted standards based interoperable and compatibility.
Reforming the quality of health care records is an international quest permitting each person to have their entire health record and medical history, wherever they need health care. This Healthcare SIG will discuss the issues and potential solutions to these problems, specifically how we can globally connect people with their health care providers at the point of care.

Howard R. Asher
President & CEO, Automated TeleMedicine, Inc.
Howard began his career in life sciences in 1969 with Pfizer, followed by Baxter and Bayer until 1979. Late in 1979 he founded Advanced Bioresearch Associates (ABA), which grew to be the premier Life Sciences—FDA Regulatory Affairs consulting firm worldwide. Howard served as President, CEO and Chairman of ABA for 20 years. In 1999, Howard founded and served as President, CEO of BioQ, Inc. Howard then joined Sun Microsystems, Inc, in 2001 as Group Director of Global Life and Health Sciences. While at Sun, Howard founded the LSIT Global Institute. In 2007, Howard founded and served as President, CEO of Global Life Sciences, Inc., a firm providing trusted IT solutions and professional services to the Life Science and healthcare industries. Howard has participated on many Boards, including; BIOCOM, Quorex Pharmaceuticals, Stryker Corp. (Howmedica, Osteonics), the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, PharmaPrint, Biomatters, Inc. Howard also teaches at the UCSD School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Rady School of Management at U.C. San Diego. In 1996, Howard led the formation of the world's first Masters in Regulatory Affairs (MRA) degree program with the US–FDA and California State University.
Alean Kirnak
President & Co-Founder, Software Partners LLC
Alean has over twenty years experience developing, marketing and selling custom software solutions in a wide variety of settings. Alean has fourteen years experience in immunization registries, clinical decision support, and healthcare interoperability through her company’s engagement with the San Diego Regional Immunization Registry and other public health customers. Alean is a CommNexus Co-Chairman in Healthcare and graduate of the UCSD Master’s program in Computer Science.
Yendo Hu Ph.D.
Chief Technology Officer, La Jolla Networks Inc.
Dr. Yendo Hu is a technology founder in the digitization effort for the content multi-media transmission space. He has introduced breakthrough technical advances in compression, aggregation, and transmission for both wired and wireless networks. Dr. Hu played pivotal roles over the entire digital convergence era with first, the introduction of the world's leading commercially deployable real-time HDTV encoding/decoding systems for wireless transmission, and then, the only broadcast quality capable network transmission gateways for guaranteed content delivery over both national and international Ethernet backbones. He is currently the CTO of La Jolla Networks, Inc., which is introducing next generation traffic control over the last mile wireless networks to guarantee quality of experience (QoE) even under congested conditions.

MediAccess Solutions provides live video telemedicine diagnostic systems that link the medical specialist with patients who are situated in rural or remote hospitals and clinics. The diagnosis, such as stroke cases, can be done speedily and accurately via live two-way video, audio and data (CT Scans). These systems have been proven in live emergency situations since 2004 over distances of many thousands of kilometers/miles. Originally from Scotland Alex is also President & CEO of Ecosse Business Group an executive management turn-around company specializing in assisting small and medium size companies grow globally including in the video over wireless & internet, plus green technology markets. In the past Alex managed the design and development of the world’s first digital set to boxes (STB) that went into the international market. As well as a CommNexus Co-Chairman Alex is a Connect Entrepreneur in Residence and is a guest lecturer at UCSD’s School of International Relations & Pacific Studies. His education in Management was received at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, plus Marketing from University of South Africa, Quality Assurance and Telecommunications from City of Guilds of London.
