The Fleet Readiness Center Southwest is responsible for the overhaul and repair of F/A-18, E-2 /C-2 Hawkeye, H-53 Sea Stallion, H-60 Sea Hawk aircraft, to include manufacturing, fabricating, and wet processing of new components.
Captain John Smajdek, Commanding Officer of Fleet Readiness Center Southwest will share with us the latest technology for building and reworking the F18 and other aircraft. Including how the FRC can cut an F18 in half and put it back together to replace the aircraft barrel and doing just in time maintenance for $50m F18’s meaning he is working with the latest processes--Six Sigma, Lean, etc. Using these processes and information tools he can maintain and track any of 100 airplanes in rework at any one time and have each of them ready on the promised date. An FRC task is to turn F18's designed for 8000 hour life into 10,000 hour life airplanes.
This is a unique opportunity for attendees to get an insiders view of these technologies, processes and people working the latest high performance aircraft.
