An Opportunity Driven by Communications and Information Technology
The viability of these applications is being driven by the dramatic technology advancements in information technology providing smaller, more powerful computational devices at lower costs which is enabling many of the emerging applications. A vital element in their viability is, however, communications. How can the device be controlled and how can the control be assured. A look forward also indicates that the control will not be one-to-one but will frequently me one-to—many and, eventually will integrate vehicle to vehicle communication to enable cooperation.
CommNexus, recognizing that it’s membership is vitally involved in both the communications and information technology markets, is planning a series of SIG events addressing this topic. The initial event in this series will be hosted by SSC-Pacific on August 30th on their facilities Top-Side. It has been scheduled for August 30th where the key members of their team will display and many of their prototypes, demonstrate a few and discuss the projects and plans, identifying challenges and their aspirations. We are planning to follow this initial event by one or two tours of their facilities which will be by invitation only and, subsequently will be holding events on the various types of vehicles and their applications at commercial facilities around the region.
