Senior Director of Radio, Slacker Radio
Sr. Director of Radio at Slacker, Scott Riggs, has strived to push the creative limits of the American radio industry for almost two decades. Since 1992, he has worked to create innovative and ground-breaking radio while energizing an audience hungry for new, original and compelling content. Riggs joined Slacker in June 2006 to design and develop the next incarnation of the radio medium: personalized radio. Having developed the original 100 genre stations for Slacker as well as building the framework for over 10,000 custom radio stations, Riggs is excited at the prospect of creating content that represents the logical progression of radio—from broadcast and static to ubiquitous, digital and dynamic. Riggs has also led the charge for securing popular talk content that can be uniquely personalized into the Slacker Network including ABC News, ESPN, APM and many others. His passion for music drives Riggs to add programming duties to his Sr. Director role including Slacker formats that are close to his heart, Alternative and Indie Hits. Prior to joining Slacker, Riggs had a successful career in broadcast radio as well as music-tech companies. Riggs has worked many facets of radio including on-air as a DJ, writer, talk show host, award-winning specialty show host, producer of a top-rated morning show and involved in programming at Alternative, Indie and Rock radio stations. Having worked for independent owners (XHRM-FM and KFSD-FM) and large radio corporations including Clear Channel Radio (KIOZ-FM) and Gannett (KKBH-FM), Riggs has seen both sides of the radio struggle and has a unique perspective on the challenges that plague broadcast radio today. Adding to that experience, Riggs has also been able to bridge his passion for technology with his love of music and radio with successful stints at the pioneering music web site MP3.com, the revolutionary music software company MusicMatch and finally landing at a company that promotes the perfect intersection of all three passions, Slacker Radio. Riggs resides in San Diego, CA where he works to pursue projects that he has a passion for including music, technology, writing, environmental causes, social justice, travel and photography.
